Crane Girder EC

The bestseller for structural analysis of crane runway girders

Crane girder structural analysis: powerful, fast and reliable

Crane girder EC is an extremely powerful tool for the structural analysis of crane girders.

Regardless of whether the girder is a single span or continuous girder, with or without cantilever, a trolley girder or a crane bridge, and whether it is loaded by one or more cranes: Crane Girder EC calculates the statics incredibly fast and impressively reliably.

The crane girder calculation is flexible and can, for example, handle different cross-section shapes and also take hinges above the supports or horizontal bracing into account.

Structural analysis according to standards

Crane Girder EC is standard-compliant. The calculation and design can be easily switched between DIN 4132 / DIN 18800 and EuroCode 3 (EC3).

Crane Girder EC is a product of the STAHL 2000 series and is available both as a stand-alone program and as part of the Program Package Hall.

Calculating the statics of a crane girder?

A matter of minutes with Crane Girder EC!

The operation of the crane girder software is really easy and the complete calculation of a crane girder, including the dimensioning, is done in a few minutes.

How the software works:

First, specify the desired profile for the crane runway girder in the "Profiles" tab. You have the option of selecting warm formed sections or composite sections (e.g. with welded angles).

The static system of the crane runway girder is defined in the "System" tab:
Span lengths, profile assignment, pin-joints, cantilevers and some other values.

Extremely useful:

Rolled steel sections are automatically enlarged on request if the selected profile is not sufficient.

The third tab, "Crane rail", is used to define the rail type, dimensions and the rail weld seam formation.
It also specifies whether the crane rail should be included in the structural analysis.

The fourth tab, "Crane data", is used to enter the wheelbase and loads.
You can enter one or two standard cranes or, alternatively, a single load hoist. For standard cranes, the horizontal loads can be calculated automatically.

Using the last tab "Influence lines", you simply define which internal forces are to be calculated at which points, e.g. supporting forces, side forces, moments at the bearings or field moments. In the case of field moments, the software automatically determines the location of the maximum field moment.

Then simply start the calculation – done!

Clear results, versatile output and easy data exchange

The crane runway girder is calculated according to Petersen's 2nd order tilt-bending theory (Statik und Stabilität der Baukonstruktion / ISBN 9783528186630).

The standard output system of STAHL 2000 is used to output the results.
You can preview the output on the screen, display graphics (system, influence lines) and output to a printer, PDF or Word document.

Very convenient:

The output provides a clearly arranged table with the possible load combinations for further consideration of the support forces, e.g. in the framework calculation.

And if you are working with the STAHL 2000 framework programs, you can transfer the support forces from the crane runway calculation directly via an interface.

PTC Mathcad. An ideal tool.

With Mathcad you can easily create a calculation document with text, images and formulas. Similar to a text editor, but the formulas are automatically mathematically exact and the formula content is not just text, but variable values.

In our opinion, Mathcad is one of the most underrated programs and should not be missing in any engineering office!
