AluFrame Assistant for SOLIDWORKS

Functions

AluFrame Assistant is a parametric CAD solution, optimized for quick and easy creation of constructions with standard aluminum profiles. Regardless of whether simple changes such as the repositioning of components, length or distance changes, but also complex changes such as bevel cuts at profile ends or differently positioned connections. With AluFrame Assistant for SOLIDWORKS, the components are automatically adapted to the new situation.

Profiles, Libraries and Cuts

The AluFrame Assistant for SOLIDWORKS can be equipped with profiles from all manufacturers. Only the cross-sections need to be created and a controlling Excel file generated. In order not to unnecessarily increase the storage space requirement, no profile databases are included when the software is delivered. The profile catalogs from various manufacturers can then be downloaded free of charge from our website. This means that you only install the profile databases that you really need.

Placement of profiles in detail

In the following feature detail video of AluFrame Assistant for SOLIDWORKS you can see the different possibilities of profile placement. Besides general information about the placement of aluminum profiles in SOLIDWORKS, the different possibilities for offsets at channels, slots and geometry are explained.

Cuts in detail

In the following feature detail video of AluFrame Assistant for SOLIDWORKS you can see how different types of profile cuts can be performed with AluFrame Assistant. Regardless of the alignment to each other, profiles can be cut on the body of another profile.

typical connections

Standard Connections

Standard connections can be added into the design with just a few clicks. Only both profiles have to be selected. The software then suggests all the connections stored in the database that match the profile manufacturer and the slot size. Once the connection has been selected, the position can still be determined. Then everything happens fully automatically. All parts of the connection are placed, a sub-assembly is created (only if the connection consists of several individual parts) and any necessary processing such as drilling on the profile is carried out.

Intelligent databases
The AluFrame Assistant has a self-learning database. Specifically, this means that it is possible to teach-in a new connection in the SOLIDWORKS graphical user interface. For this purpose, the connection is placed and linked once with normal SOLIDWORKS functions and then taught to the AluFrame Assistant. The profile type, the slot size, the position of the connection and all user-defined properties are then automatically saved in the database. Thus, not only is the connection automatically placed as described above, but additional information such as article numbers, order numbers and the like are also managed automatically.

Wheels, feet and end caps

Similar to the standard connections, the AluFrame Assistant for SOLIDWORKS can also be used to place wheels, feet, end caps and similar components. Only one profile is selected in the 3D model, a component is selected from the database and it is decided whether the component should be placed at the start or end of the profile. Then the component is automatically loaded into the 3D model, placed appropriately, any necessary processing is automatically carried out on the profiles and the user-defined properties of the component are written.

The intelligent teach-in mechanism of the AluFrame Assistant is also available for the wheels, feet, end caps and other components. This means that you as the user have all the options for teaching in new components. You are also free to choose manufacturers.

Export of bills of material

Parts lists can be exported to Excel. Completely individual templates can be created. These templates control both the appearance and the content of the parts list.

Item numbers can be assigned both automatically and manually. Countless setting options such as the assignment of number ranges for different parts or the selection of individual separators round off this process.

The templates used were set up in a clear XML scheme and can be created independently. A normal Excel document can be used as an individual table header. This can then contain the logo, order number, address and much more general information.
